I collect and fish Heddon bamboo, Sage LL graphite, and Orvis bamboo rods and early CFO reels, (the click/pawl reels with rivets). I also use silk fly lines
and Trilene leaders, or furled leaders. Primarily a dry fly guy, I'm 66 years young, teach advanced fly tying at my local fly shop, and love spring creeks
and rising trout. I"m fortunate to have three wonderful rivers within a half hour of my home in Hudson, WI, and I make a couple of trips to Montana each
year. I used to sew and sell custom fly fishing vests designed to hold lots of fly boxes, but I've seen the light, and now I carry only a tiny chest pack.
Don't you know what flies you'll need today? Why carry your entire collection? Concentrate on presentation and your knowledge of where trout will be.
It works much better, and saves you lots of sweat. I'm at the point of wondering whether I should carry a wading staff. I've already decided to wear
nothing higher than waist-high waders, since I don't want to be in swift water any deeper than my knees. Thank goodness, the trout don't want to be
where I don't want to be!! I was editor of my TU chapter newsletter for ten years, and enjoyed it, even though I wound up writing most of it each month.
I've been published in the Second Flytiers Almanac and The Angler's Journal as well. I've been a professional classical musician all my life. As a
pianist, harpsichordist, organist, I've been principal keyboardist with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, in St. Paul, MN, for 39 years, and a church
organist as well during that time. I'm also a composer, conductor, arranger, as well. Happily married to a non-fly fisher, I'm the cook in the house,
too.
